I require approximately 2x2m of space to play and one armless chair/bench. There must be level ground, a suitable playing area, and adequate lighting.
2. Accompanying Singer or Instrumentalist
If you have a singer or instrumentalist who you wish to accompany me for all or part of your wedding ceremony, I will be happy to facilitate this at no additional cost. I will be available at the venue 90minutes prior to the wedding ceremony for a practice. This should be more than enough time to practise the required songs for a ceremony.
I do not normally attend any additional rehearsal or meet ups prior to performance at weddings or events. Additional fees are chargeable should rehearsals be required (for example, having to learn and practise a 90 minute – 2 hour set list for an afternoon reception with a singer/instrumentalist). Rehearsals are dependent on my having availability in my diary to facilitate them. Any rehearsal would be required to take place at my location in Belfast and would be charged at £50 per hour.
3. Refreshments
In the event of an all-day booking (Diamond Package) dinner should be provided ordinarily in the hotel restaurant.
4. Additional Sheet Music
The purchase of sheet music for any special requests is covered within your booking price. However, I am occasionally asked to perform music which is difficult to source. If sheet music is not available for the music you wish to be played, an arrangement fee of £20 will be chargeable if I think it is feasible for me to arrange the music myself for the harp.
5. Outside Performance
Outdoor performances are welcomed but the Northern Irish weather can present its own unique challenges. The harp is an expensive instrument, which contains very delicate features and must be protected from wind, sun and rain. This means that outside cover is required for outdoor weddings. A marquee, awning, large umbrella, extended canopy or the inside of a doorway are acceptable. Temperatures between 14°C and 24°C are generally acceptable. The harp cannot be played outdoors in the event of any form of rain. The decision whether to perform outside will be made at the time of performance and you agree that this decision will be final. Performances may be moved indoors due to weather conditions
6. Illness and unforeseen circumstances
If in the case of illness, or other such unforeseen circumstances, I have to cancel the performance you will receive a full refund of any monies you have paid. I will also make best efforts to provide you with possible alternative harpists of a similar standard who have availability on your date.
7. Deposit
A non-refundable deposit in the amount of £25 is required to guarantee the booking of your event. The remaining balance is due to be paid at least seven days prior to the event date. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, PayPal or cash payment.
8. Balance Payment
Your balance payment is to be made at least seven days prior to the event date, or by cash on the day of the event. If paying by cash it is important to ensure that a member of the wedding party provides the payment prior to the event starting.
9. Delayed Start
It’s a bride’s prerogative to be late! Ordinarily a ceremony booking will include around 30 minutes of playing time to entertain guests as they await the arrival of the bride. This time includes the expected late arrival as 20 years’ experience has shown the bride will ordinarily enter the room around 10-15 minutes after the expected start time. Therefore, if a wedding ceremony is due to commence at 1pm I will ordinarily play 12.40pm – 1.10pm. Should a bride arrive later than this and I have been booked to play at the subsequent reception/dinner it may be necessary to reduce the playing time.
10. Changes To Packages or Date
Should you choose to extend your booking (for example, adding the afternoon reception to a ceremony booking) an additional deposit will not be required. Booking extensions should be confirmed via email.
Changes to the originally agreed performance date will be looked at upon request.
If I cannot move your booking from the originally agreed booking date to the new requested booking date due to commitments of any kind, then your booking will have to be cancelled. Your deposit and any other monies taken will not be refunded.
11. Deposits Paid & Cancellation Of Booking By The Hirer
The deposit you pay to secure your booking is non-refundable. If you cancel your booking at any time, for any reason, your deposit will not be refunded. If you cancel your booking within 3 months of the performance date, you will also be liable to pay a £100 cancellation fee, due within 14 days of cancellation.
Please submit your full name and email address to confirm and agree to the terms and conditions.
